Foxconn’s Sales Jumped 54% in a Month. Its Stock Is Still Down 16% From June

Hon Hai Precision Industry, the Nvidia server-assembly partner also known as Foxconn, reported July revenue of NT$946.5 billion, roughly $29.3 billion, a 54.2% year-over-year increase, signaling sustained demand across the global AI infrastructure buildout. Despite that jump, Hon Hai shares remain down roughly 16% from their early June peak, even after climbing about 12% since the start of the year. A 54% monthly sales jump landing alongside a stock still meaningfully below its recent high is what NewsTrackerToday banks round as the more telling gap than either number alone.

The company’s own forward guidance suggests July’s strength isn’t a one-month anomaly: Hon Hai has said AI rack shipments are expected to maintain momentum into the current quarter, while demand for its broader information and communications technology products enters peak season, and analysts are separately forecasting a 31.2% sales increase for the three-month period ending in September.

Liam Anderson reads the margin story underneath the strong topline numbers: “Growing AI-server contribution is expected to keep weighing on Hon Hai’s gross margin, since server assembly work carries thinner margins than some of the company’s other product lines. But strong operating leverage and a shift to a consignment model on certain projects, which excludes high-value components from revenue entirely, should help offset that pressure. That’s a company managing a genuine margin tradeoff while still growing revenue at this pace, not simply riding AI demand to easy profitability.” That margin management, more than the headline growth rate, is what NewsTrackerToday ties to as the more complete picture of how this quarter is actually shaping up financially.

Second-quarter results already showed this pattern clearly: Hon Hai booked a bigger-than-expected 40% jump in April-through-June revenue, with growth led by cloud and networking as hyperscale customers continued expanding AI-server deployment, while smart consumer electronics also posted a solid quarter, helped by resilient iPhone demand and what analysts described as front-loaded purchases ahead of expected price increases for the next iPhone cycle.

Sophie Leclerc, who covers the technology sector, reads the stock’s disconnect from these numbers as the more significant signal: “Global investors broadly sold off technology stocks in July amid persisting concerns about whether the hundreds of billions being spent on AI server farms will actually pay off. Hon Hai’s specific numbers this month say demand is real and accelerating, but the stock’s 16% pullback from June reflects a market-wide skepticism about AI infrastructure economics that isn’t responding directly to any single company’s individual results anymore.” That market-wide skepticism overriding company-specific strength, more than Hon Hai’s own numbers, is what News Tracker Today reads round as the more important dynamic shaping how this data actually gets priced.

That skepticism sits against a genuinely enormous continued commitment from Hon Hai’s own largest customers: Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon, the four largest players in the data center race, have together committed nearly $2.4 trillion in spending over the coming years, a scale of ongoing investment that underwrites Hon Hai’s own server-assembly demand regardless of how public equity markets are currently pricing AI infrastructure stocks.

None of this resolves the core tension defining this entire sector right now: whether AI infrastructure spending at this scale eventually generates returns that justify it, or whether current server-assembly demand outpaces the actual monetization happening further up the AI value chain. Whether Hon Hai’s stock eventually catches up to what its own monthly sales numbers are showing, or whether broader AI-spending skepticism keeps weighing on the shares regardless of how strong individual results continue coming in, is what NewsTrackerToday closes to as the real question this month’s numbers leave unresolved.
