AI Is Dividing the Workplace – And the Gender Gap Is Growing

The rapid rise of artificial intelligence is reshaping workplaces across industries, but its adoption is developing unevenly across the workforce. New survey data suggests that men are embracing AI tools more enthusiastically than women, raising concerns that the next wave of technological transformation could widen existing gender gaps in professional advancement. NewsTrackerToday notes that the divergence reflects not only attitudes toward technology but also differences in how employees integrate AI into daily workflows.

Survey results show that about 69% of men view AI as a valuable assistant at work, compared with roughly 61% of women. At the same time, nearly half of women surveyed said using AI in professional tasks can feel like “cheating,” while fewer men share that concern. According to NewsTrackerToday, these perceptions highlight a cultural dimension of AI adoption, where questions about authenticity and professional credibility influence how employees approach new tools.

The difference is also visible in usage patterns. Around 64% of women say they never use AI tools at work, compared with 55% of men. Among frequent users, the gap persists: about 14% of men report using AI several times per day, while only 9% of women do the same. Liam Anderson, a financial markets specialist, argues that early adoption of productivity technologies often leads to long-term professional advantages, as employees who integrate new tools earlier tend to improve efficiency and visibility within their organizations.

Even among users, confidence remains limited. Nearly 59% of male respondents say they still need additional training to apply AI effectively in their roles. NewsTrackerToday highlights that the gender gap therefore appears to stem less from expertise and more from willingness to experiment with emerging technologies despite uncertainty.

Corporate leaders increasingly view AI adoption as a strategic priority. Major companies have begun integrating internal large language models into everyday workflows to automate research, coding and analysis. Isabella Moretti, an analyst specializing in corporate strategy and digital ecosystems, notes that organizations adopting AI at scale are likely to favor employees who can combine traditional expertise with AI-assisted productivity.

The implications may extend beyond productivity. If women adopt AI tools more slowly, the disparity could reinforce existing gender gaps at early career stages, particularly during the period when employees compete for their first leadership roles. NewsTrackerToday observes that career trajectories often take shape during the first decade of professional development, meaning differences in technological adoption could create long-term ripple effects.

At the same time, analysts emphasize that the outcome is not predetermined. Anderson argues that targeted training programs and organizational support can quickly reduce disparities in AI adoption, while Moretti suggests that companies must actively promote inclusive access to AI education to prevent technological change from reinforcing existing inequalities.

As artificial intelligence becomes embedded in daily work, NewsTrackerToday suggests the technology could emerge as one of the defining productivity tools of the modern economy. Whether it narrows or widens professional disparities will depend largely on how organizations approach training, workplace culture and access to AI-driven resources.
